The official dates of the Lifesaving World Championships 2024 are from 20 August to 8 September 2024.  We require volunteers to be available over these dates, or some of these dates, and possibly a few days pre and post.  Working hours and times will vary depending on the role and requirements of the program.  Flexibility of working hours will be an advantage. Being available and happy to help welcome the lifesaving community from all over the world with a smile on your face is essential.  Some volunteer duties may require you to have certain qualifications, accreditations or licenses.

Volunteers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.  A duty meal will be provided based on hours worked. All other meals and incidental costs are the responsibility of the individual.

The Lifesaving World Championships will be held from 20 August to 8 September, 2024.  Volunteers will be required prior to these dates, during these dates and possibly for a short time post these dates.  Rosters will be provided to cover all duties required throughout the event.  You will be required to complete your availability as part of the application form.

Yes, there will be roles for youth volunteers from age ten (10) upwards.

All members of the general public are welcome as spectators to watch LWC24 competitions.  As a volunteer, you will have access to watch events outside of rostered times and the requirements of your role.  The competition events will be held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and Kurrawa, Broadbeach. The conference program will be held at the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach.  We will require volunteer support within the competition arenas as well as behind the scenes and back of beach areas.  You may not be guaranteed access to see all competitions but are welcome to watch once your official duties are over for the day or during breaks.

The online training will ensure that you have all the important information needed for you to prepare yourself for your role as a Volunteer at LWC24. Online training is mandatory from a safety and security point of view.  You will be required to complete online training and attend briefings as required to participate as a volunteer.

When you are offered a volunteer role, you will be provided with a Position Description and connected to a Team Leader for direct support.  Ongoing information will then be provided on the event website, through social media channels and via email when required.

Rosters are due to be released from 1 July 2024.  This will be a phased approach depending on which team you are assigned to.

All volunteers will be required to wear specific event shirts and caps which have been designed to easily recognise roles and responsibilities.

Volunteers will receive a uniform prior to commencing their roles. Details and timings will be communicated from July 1 2024 onwards via email and the event website.

A transport plan will be released prior to the event.  Technical Officials and Volunteers on duty will receive transport support between venues if required.

Once you have been confirmed as an official LWC24 volunteer, you will be provided with contact email address and mobile phone number.
